Assistant Bartender

Job purpose

To prepare and serve a range of drinks and cocktails from the drinks menu. You will work as part of a team and take an active role in organising and maintaining the bar in accordance with hygiene standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve a range of drinks
  • Provide an excellent customer service
  • Ensure the bar area and equipment is kept clean
  • Replenish the bar and stock regularly
  • Cash handling
  • Comply with health and safety and hygiene standards
  • Check identification to customers and verify they are of legal drinking age
  • To provide assistance to the Bartender and deputise in the latter’s absence

Entry requirements

Skills

  • Must be over the age of 18
  • Previous experience in bartending
  • Knowledge of alcoholic drinks and cocktail recipes and implement new ideas
  • Customer focused with a positive attitude
  • Good numeracy skills
  • Sales ability
  • A great team player, however, will be equally happy to work alone
  • Able to work to flexible schedules
  • Good relationship skills
  • Physical and mental resilience
  • Dexterity and speed

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Food and Beverage Studies From CAP (City & Guilds) to NVQ (Vocational Training Certificate) in Hotel and Food and Beverage studies
  • GCSE Maths at Level 4/C grade or equivalent.
  • Additional Bar qualifications
  • BIIAB Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders or a similar accredited qualification would be an advantage.
