Job purpose
To assist the Restaurant Manager in maintaining the running of the restaurant and increasing its sales (from preparation through to service). You will ensure the team maintains the highest standards in food safety and hygiene.
Key responsibilities
- Opening and closing the restaurant
- Ensuring the restaurant adheres to health and safety regulations
- Scheduling shifts and assigning tables to restaurants colleagues
- Supporting the Restaurant Manager with appointing, inducting and mentoring new staff members
- Be a host and communicate with guests
- Purchase ingredients, equipment and kitchen utensils and ensure stock is maintained
- Monitoring customer service levels and guest satisfaction
- Taking full responsibility for the restaurant during allocated shifts
- Ensure the team are maximising the restaurant occupancy
- Increase restaurant sales
Entry requirements
Skills
- Previous supervisory experience in restaurant management with experience in managing priorities, the ability to listen and team motivation
- Numerate with the ability to assist with Restaurant accounting procedures
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to resolve guest comments
- Innovative, trustworthy and passionate about food and drinks
- Ability to work evenings, weekends
- Ability to train new Restaurant staff
- Sales ability
- Have understanding of Restaurant IT systems & processes
- Thoroughness: a good supervisor
- Dynamism/good relationship skills: maintaining the image of the restaurant
Qualifications
- 2 years’ further education in hotel/food and beverage studies to BTS/HND standard or similar
- Qualification in Accounting would be an advantage
