That’s why supporting our colleagues to learn and develop, is such a big part of a career with De Vere.

We have invested in our hotel training facilities, learning programmes and frameworks, to make sure that our colleagues have the very best tools to develop and learn within their role.

You might find yourself training on our iPads and laptops to access our specialist online learning platform or working with our dedicated hotel Talent Trainers and industry specialist’s onsite at our hotels.

We are also really proud that many of our current Senior Managers and Heads of Departments are in their positions as a result of career progression and development within De Vere.

 

Early Careers

We have two Early Career Programmes schemes at De Vere:

Graduate Management Programme

Designed for university graduates who are looking to start a promising career in hospitality, this tailored rotational programme is structured to give you a broad and deep experience of hotel operations, meetings and events. It’s this rounded experience that sets our Graduate Managers on track for a promising career as a future manager of De Vere.

Over the course of the 18 months, you will undertake a tailored rotational programme within one of our venues within the De Vere portfolio, receiving mentoring from a senior manager and benefiting from a range of commercial and leadership development opportunities to truly enhance your career with us.

We are keen to support our Graduate Managers to take control of their own development, therefore you will have the opportunity to tailor your rotations based on your personal career aspirations.

Rotations include Meetings & Events Operations, Restaurant, Bar, Front Office, Kitchen, Guest Services and Housekeeping, with the opportunity to gain further exposure in our specialist functions including Finance, Sales, Reservations and Human Resources.

You will also meet regularly with your fellow Graduate Managers and specialists within De Vere to complete additional development modules across other aspects of the business.

Towards the end of your Graduate Management Programme, we will work closely with you to support you in taking up your first Head of Department or Management position with us. Previous De Vere Graduates have gone on to take on roles such as Food & Beverage Managers, Guest Experience Managers and Event Managers.

De Vere Tortworth Court

Having little prior hospitality experience, I am astonished at the progress I have made in the short time I have been in the programme. I have already been given many opportunities to make the role my own at De Vere Tortworth Court.

It’s incredibly reassuring to be working with other colleagues who are as apassionate about the job as I am. It feels very much like De Vere is invested in the next generation of management. Putting people; both guests and colleagues at the forefront of everything they do.

My advice for anyone considering joining the Graduate Programme would be to make sure you love the property you’re at. Each De Vere property is unique and will be able to offer you an amazingly personal experience as part of your ongoing career progression.

 

Trainee Management Programme

Known within De Vere as the Emerging Leader Programme, this route of training is a Level 3 Supervisor Apprenticeship, involving a range of learning and development opportunities. This is ideal for those looking to build a management career in hospitality whilst completing a formally recognised qualification.

Over the course of the programme, you’ll work across each of our operational hotel departments including Front Office, Food & Beverage, Conference & Banqueting, Housekeeping and Kitchen. This ensures you gain valuable skills, experience and exposure.

We want our Emerging Leaders to be on track to become a future leader, so by the conclusion of the apprenticeship programme, Emerging Leaders will have achieved a Level 3 Supervisor Apprenticeship and completed internal training modules.

There are lots of opportunities to get work on really exciting events and initiatives. Previous Emerging Leaders have secured roles within De Vere including Guest Experience Executive, Bars Supervisor and Events Supervisor.

 

Apprenticeships

We are passionate about offering all of our people the chance to grow and develop and we believe that at De Vere there is an opportunity for everyone to achieve this through the wide range of apprenticeship programmes we offer.

Apprenticeships support development at all levels. From programmes to help you on the first steps of your career, right the way through to degree apprenticeships that could be an alternative to going to University. If college or university is not for you, rest assured there will be an apprenticeship that is right for you. Most importantly, an apprenticeship is designed around the actual job that you are doing so from the first day, you are developing skills that will help you get ready for the next step in your career!

For example, someone stepping up to become a supervisor for the first time may choose to do a Level 3 Hospitality Supervisor apprenticeship. Not only will this allow them to develop the general knowledge and skills as a supervisor, the programme they do will also specialise in the field they work in such as housekeeping, bars or reception. Essentially, instead of doing a general course, you will gain a fantastic qualification focused directly on your role and your department path.

We know that completing and achieving an apprenticeship qualification takes dedication, hard work and a lot of personal motivation. At De Vere we are passionate about celebrating and sharing success, so when our colleagues complete an apprenticeship we think it’s only right that all the hard work is recognised and rewarded so we offer:

OUR TEAMS

Management

We know that our leaders bring out the best in our people. Our Managers receive brilliant training, including our very own De Vere Management Training Programme, to make sure they’re supported in driving success with their teams and through their own development too.

Chefs

Why do De Vere Chefs love working here? Variety. Catering for high end weddings, cooking up culinary storms with street food parties, hosting large outdoor BBQs and hog roasts, and creating menus befitting a fairy tale themed dinner. It’s all in a day’s work for our chefs.

Housekeeping

Working in Housekeeping at De Vere is to work in one of the most essential and valued teams in our hotels. That’s because defining an incredible guest experience relies on our bedrooms being beautifully made, the bathrooms sparkling and our hotel public spaces really looking their best.

Food & Beverage

Leisure & Spa

Working in our Leisure and Spa teams is where you really get the opportunity to add value to our guest’s stay and be part of something truly special.
